Named for the once exuberant supply of pearls the island harbored, Contadora has continued its legacy of decadence. Once hosting elite, extravagent clientele such as Sophia Loren, John Wayne, Elizabeth Taylor, and Christian Dior, the island is now much more available to tourists.
With over thirteen beaches on the 1.39 km² Island, visitors can enjoy scuba diving with the diverse and vast marine life on Playa Cacique to the fine, white sand and crystal blue waters of the popular Playa Larga, to the dolphin sightings about the island.
