Tucked away on Central America’s Caribbean coast, Belize is one of the last unspoiled places on Earth.

Here’s a tiny nation that punches well above its weight. Composed of tropical rainforest in the interior and shimmering beaches along shore, Belize is a friendly, welcoming place, full of pre-Hispanic ruins, laid-back beach villages, and slender cays—coral islands—floating in sky-blue waters. Belize’s range of activities is amazingly varied. Scuba diving among coral reefs, spelunking in Maya caves, ziplining through the jungle canopy, windsurfing off sun-drenched islands: the explorer in you will thrill as your senses come alive. Factor in the warmth of the English-speaking locals, and you have the perfect spot for a much-needed Caribbean getaway.

Here are just a few of the surprises you’ll find in this Central American paradise:

•  The Great Blue Hole, just off shore from Belize City, was declared by Jacques Cousteau to be one of the planet’s top diving spots. Part of a 200-mile-long barrier reef, it’s home to throngs of fish and coral.
•  Belize is Maya country. Hilltop pyramids, massive plazas, sacred caves: the ruins that dot the landscape are as mysterious as they are awe-inspiring.
•  The Garifuna are descendants of native Amerindians and Africans. In towns like Hopkins and Dangriga, you can hear their mind-boggling drumming and savor their spicy cuisine.
•  Looking to get back to nature? Belize’s jungles are surprisingly accessible. Several national parks—many with jungle lodges—let you spot howler monkeys, tiger herons, and kingfishers amidst the dense brush.

Andrew and his team set us up with the most amazing trip to Belize. We stayed in both the ecolodge at Chaa Creek and the beautiful beach front Victoria House. Both properties were amazing.... the service, food, drinks, accommodations and staff were first class all the way. From Mayan Ruins, to Howler monkeys, to caving experiences, to snorkeling the trip could not have better!
